The Venerable Bede was built of local stone as a schoolroom in 1851 before becoming a Chapel of Ease in the village within the (then) parish of East Acklam. The church became a parish in its own right and then was extensively renovated in 2008 when a sharing agreement with the local Methodist congregation was agreed and we now share the building.

Altar, candlesticks and cross by George Pace. The church is home to The Leavening Embroidery, a community embroidery completed as a millennium project featuring the seasons and activities in the village.

We have a small kitchen area and an accessible toilet. The church is wheelchair accessible and has a hearing loop.
