St Cuthbert

On the St Cuthbert's Three Church Trail, this is a place of holy simplicity where St Cuthbert's coffin rested 1300 years ago.
The church was built in 1844 in a 'neo Norman' style, by John and Benjamin Green. It was originally built as a chapel of ease to the St Cuthbert's in Elsdon. It was funded by John Thomas Freeman-Mitford, Earl of Redesdale, who also later commissioned the vicarage behind the church. The parish church is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
