StoneMind specialises in traditional stone carving, masonry and architectural restoration, with a particular focus on historic buildings and heritage skills.
The organisation was founded by Master Stone Carver Tom Brown, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the craft and has worked on significant historic and architectural projects across the UK. Tom is a QEST Scholar, Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Masons and a member of the Master Carvers Association.
Alongside commissioned conservation and restoration work, StoneMind delivers practical stone-carving training designed to help keep traditional craft skills alive and create pathways into the heritage sector. We work with individuals, community organisations and heritage partners, teaching everything from introductory carving and lettering through to architectural ornament, masonry and restoration techniques.
We are particularly interested in church and ecclesiastical restoration projects where traditional craftsmanship, careful conservation and opportunities for skills development can work alongside one another.
