Replacing a mid-19th century mission damaged in the anti-Catholic riots of 1868, this striking Grade II listed church was built between 1963 and 1967. Designed by the notable Polish-born architect Tadeusz Lesisz, it is a masterpiece of post-war modernism, instantly recognisable by its unique ribbed spire, an exterior suspended aluminium statue of the Virgin Mary, and a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling interior mosaic.
