Founded originally by the Jesuits in 1799 on land gifted by the philanthropist Thomas Weld of Stonyhurst, the current grand, Grade II listed church was built between 1847 and 1850. Designed by the celebrated architect JA Hansom, the building features striking twin west towers and a jaw dropping interior enriched with a lavish late Victorian sanctuary, an exquisite 1884 Lady Chapel, and intricately carved Caen stone Stations of the Cross.
