Serving the post-war garden village expansion of Alkrington since the parish's erection in 1959, the current church building was completed in 1972. It stands as a brilliant example of late 20th century ecclesiastical design, dominated by strong geometric planes and a flat roof that steps down from a dramatic, tall tower positioned directly behind the sanctuary to flood the altar with natural light.
