London Friends

Explore London's beautiful churches

Imagine standing where Christopher Wren rebuilt after the Great Fire, uncovering a forgotten churchyard in the heart of the modern financial district or discovering some of London's hidden churches off the tourist trail.

The London Friends group invites you to visit wonderful churches in the hidden corners of London through our brilliant tours across the city. Step into footsteps of London's history with us by joining us at one of our upcoming events.

We invite you to explore these treasures with us, discovering their fascinating pasts, and finding out how they serve their communities today. Each church filled with monuments, glass, stonework and stories of the people who shaped London. There is so much to explore.

Whether you're a history lover, a curious traveller, or simply looking for a new way to experience London, we would love to welcome you.

A visit to Rotherhithe

Saturday 11 July 10:45am-1:15pm
St Mary's Church SE16 4HZ

The London Friends’ next visit will have an international theme, beginning with the opportunity to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. St Mary’s Church, where the tour starts, has strong ties to the voyage of the Mayflower and its captain. After seeing this fine early 18th century building, we will head to two very unusual and different churches in St Olav’s Norwegian Church and the Finnish Church in Albion Street. There will be refreshments along the way – coffee or tea at St Mary’s and then (for an extra charge of £5) coffee and waffles at St Olav’s. We'll invite a donation of £10 per head at the start of the visit, to distribute to the churches.
