Our beautiful rural church is thought to be the only Wren church outside of London.
The benefactors were Thomas Baring whose family plot is in the churchyard and the Revd George Glossop who had been the previous rector of the church. The church is the Early English style constructed of flint, stone and brick with a semi circular apse. Stained glass windows by William Morris were added in 1916-7. Some features from the old church were incorporated in the new building including some medieval tiles and the Norman font basin which was re-erected on a pedestal of Caen stone. The three bells were also taken from the old church and re-hung in the new bell tower.
Inside the apse ceiling gold stars are painted on a blue background each representing a villager as well as the locally dark night skies. Above the altar there is a reredos with a white marble cross and a relief of the Lamb of God. In the early 2000s a vestry and toilet facilities were added to the side of the building largely financed by the sale of the vicarage. Nearby is the Borbach Chantry which is well worth a visit too. In the churchyard is the village War Memorial and there is also a Commonwealth War Grave.
