If travelling from Princetown on the B3212 turn right at the Burrator Inn pub (It's about 5 miles from Princetown). On entering the village pass the war memorial and carry on to the Walkhampton Inn. After 50m turn right and proceed out of the village up a steep hill. On cresting the hill look out for the sign directing you to the church on your left. Drive up the unmade approach road, open (and close) the car park gate and park next to the church.
If travelling from Plymouth or Tavistock on the A386, at Yelverton roundabout take the B3212 towards Princetown. After half a mile the road bends sharply right with a left turn (which looks like you are going straight ahead) signposted Walkhampton. After a mile you will reach the village, see the war memorial and head past the pub, turning right after 50m - follow the directions a per Princetown directions. If you miss the turning to Walkhampton do not worry! Carry on for about 1 mile and turn left at the Burrator Inn.
Dating from 1450 the current church is not the first on this elevated site on Dartmoor.
Refurbished in Victorian times, renewed in the 21st century, with stylish etched glass depicting moorland scenes, and modern facilities, the latest work has revewed the bell ringing floors and tower windows.
Panoramic views of the high moor and a large parking area means this church is a must visit place if you are visiting West Devon.
