The tower and spire of the church are at the far end of the street, and are the most prominent element in the landscape.

The spire is altogether impressive: very tall and connected to elaborate pinnacles by flying buttresses. The tower is 14th century; the spire was rebuilt in 1675 and again in 1898.

Although the earliest church here was Norman, most of what can be seen today dates from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Of special interest is the rose window in the south aisle. Near it is a coffin lid with foliage carving. Monuments include an effigy of Sir William Devereux from 1402, and a statue of Colonel Birch, MP, who died in 1691.
