St Margaret
Oxford, Oxfordshire
The village church has a tall tower that stands over the cottages in the middle of the village and can be seen from some way off because of the flat landscape.
Charlton on Otmoor, Oxfordshire
The church building dates from around 1200 although there is a document referring to an earlier building. It is Grade I listed and houses a fine late mediaeval rood screen.
The chancel was rebuilt in a single style in about 1350 with an east window verging on a transition between the Decorated and Perpendicular styles. Impressive and fairly plain on the outside please come in to see the fine rood screen, 17th century altar rails and the double chambered arches of the aisle born on round capitals below which the pillars, unusually, are octagonal.
