St Mary & All Saints

Great Budworth is a very pretty village with houses of many ages and kinds, and at its heart sits St Mary's, a lovely red sandstone church dating mainly from the 15th and 16th centuries, though the Lady Chapel dates back to the 14th century.

All the exterior walls are battlemented. Inside, there is much to see, including a fine 15th century font, and five 13th century oak stalls, thought to be the oldest of their kind in Cheshire.

There are several memorials to the Warburton family, including one made of alabaster to Sir John Warburton from 1575, and one to Sir Peter Warburton from 1813.

Next to the lychgate, which was erected in 1920 as a memorial to the dead of World War I, are 18th century stocks.
