An influx of railway workers in the mid 19th century led to the building of the church to meet their spiritual needs.

Built in the style of the railway, with interior architecture using the red and white brickwork typical of many of the regional railway's stations.

It has a fairytale style turret tower and is pleasingly simple inside, with pews fashioned in the same style as railway benches.
