The present building is on the site of a medieval church. The churchyard is circular so that there would be nowhere for the Devil to hide! There are various theories about Saint Cwrdaf, about whom little is known. The most intriguing 'fact' about the church which bears his name is the suggestion that Owain Glyndwr is buried under the chancel.
