In 1843 this was and still remains, the first and largest post reformation Catholic church to be built in Cornwall.
Above the narrow winding streets and famous harbour of Mousehole stands one of Cornwall's finest Methodist chapels, it is a remarkable Grade II* listed building that has welcomed worshippers, visitors, and the local community for over 240 years.
John Wesley first preached here in 1766, returning twice more before writing in his journal that Mousehole was home to "one of the liveliest societies in Cornwall." That spirit remains at the heart of the church today.
Founded in 1784 and enlarged during the 19th century, the chapel is recognised as one of the country's most complete and impressive Methodist interiors. Step inside to discover elegant horseshoe gallery, upstairs 18th century box pews complete with candlestick holders, an impressive ornate pulpit, decorative plasterwork, and striking stained-glass windows depicting John Wesley, John Bunyan, and John Wycliffe. The chapel also contains moving memorials to the First World War and to the crew of the Penlee Lifeboat, Solomon Browne, whose story remains central to the life of Mousehole.

Today Mousehole Methodist Church is entering an exciting new chapter.
