One of the most beautiful and well appointed buildings in the Church of Ireland estate situate in an Area of Townscape Character in east Belfast.

A church of Norman origin set in a historical landscape of Manor House, Tithe Barn, dovecote, almshouse and ancient deer park.

Originally built between 1856 and 1859 by the Monteith family of Carstairs, in 1907 it was all but destroyed by fire, and was rebuilt between 1908 and 1910.

Set at the head of a wooded valley, Laneast church has an almost complete and very well preserved set of medieval benches and bench ends, a well preserved rood screen, and a prayer desk from the beginning of the 16th century.

St Julitta's dates back to Norman times and nestles peacefully in a river valley set in an ancient landscape.

There has been a church dedicated to St Stephen on the site since the 10th century and St Stephen's has been the main area of commerce and religion since the time of William the Conqueror.
