For centuries this was an estate church to a succession of families; the Burnabys, Clerkes, and then the Henley/Eden family who successively owned the Watford Estate and Manor here.

For more than 1000 years a building has stood on this spot, Saxons and Normans, Tudors and Elizabethans, Victorians and even us today have left their mark on it.

St Peter’s is a simple, but beautiful building at least 900 years old! It has the great attraction of being a quiet village church in the countryside although it is so close to Hull.

The imposing parish church of Weare Giffard was built in the 13th century and enhanced to its present size in the 15th century. It is one of the more important examples in North Devon of the beautiful medieval churches built in this period.

Prominent because of its position and its slender, continental style spire, St Luke's stands on a small green hill and is known locally as the church on the hill.

A warm, welcoming, friendly church with a history of over 1,000 years.

With its commanding central tower and elevated position, this cruciform church presides over its village very much like a small cathedral.
