In the early 1960s a space was left on the plans of the High Ash estate for a church or community building.

This small medieval church, built on the site of a Saxon church and possibly a Roman temple, conceals a fine collection of stained glass, including the earliest in York.

In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, adjacent to the hidden gem of the Solway Firth, St Michael’s offers the visitor a peaceful space for reflection, together with many points of historical interest.

The origins of Upper Chapel begin in 1630 with a building erected by Anglicans and Presbyterians followed by the appointment in 1660 of the first Congregational Minister.

St Paul's is the original parish church of Shipley, built in 1826.

St Peter's was seen to reflect a bygone era when the glory of a Catholic England was unopposed and unsurpassed.

The current St Michael and All Angels church in Haworth is the third building of religious significance to stand on this site, with the first Haworth Chapel dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries.

Located in an attractive conservation area and arguably the most prominent of all the buildings, St John's was built between 1851 and 1853 and listed for its architectural and historic merits.

Following a fire, set by arsonists in 2006, the repairs to one of Cumbria's largest parish churches continues and the building is once again open to visitors, who are uplifted and captivated by its remarkable space.
