Overlooking fields that descend to the shores of the River Dee, St Bartholomew's is built entirely of local sandstone and is a splendid example of a Victorian revival of mid gothic architecture.

Aylton church is a tiny but lovely medieval church in a tiny and scattered parish.

The present site was established as a place of worship in the Middle Ages, and a medieval church is mentioned in records going back as far as 1253 and 1291.

Built around 1100, Putley church was restored in 1875 with high Victorian reredos, with some Roman remains still incorporated.
