Find a church

An Anglo-Saxon church, with 1,000 years of history, home to the oldest in situ medieval wall paintings in the country.

It is believed that there has been a church on this site since the 9th century or even earlier, St Mary Magdalene stands at the end of a spur of high ground, which reaches out northwards towards the River Thames.

All Saints rose from the ashes, literally; the church was gutted by a fire in June 2000.

Standing at the heart of the Brockley community, this impressive Victorian church, with it's landmark spire, is the custodian of the New Cross Fire memorial window.

St Leonard's is the oldest building in Streatham, South London.

The parish began in a Regency house, once home to Baron Sir William Congreve, the father of modern rocket technology.

Mentioned as early as 1077, the present church was built with funds left by Charlton House's owner Sir Adam Newton. Spencer Perceval is buried here.

Designed by Arthur Ashpital, work began in 1852 and the church was completed in 1853.

The church traces its origins back to 1863 when eight residents of Blackheath asked Charles Haddon Spurgeon of the Metropolitan Tebernacle for permission to start a separate fellowship in this area.

Long and red brick with Portland stone facings and with a tall tower topped by a spire, the church is a prominent local landmark.

The church is situated at the foot of Old Sarum.

The meeting house was designed by Trevor Dannatt, who was awarded an OBE in the 2016 New Year Honours.
