St James the Great has a 14th century Decorated Gothic nave and chancel, but was rebuilt in the 19th century.

The chapel was designed by Basil Champneys as the parish church of St Peter le Bailey and dates from 1874.

St Peters was built at the time the area of Broadwater was developed in the mid 1950s.
