With 12th century origins St German’s is a grade II listed parish church that sits quite a way outside the village of Ranby, try and spot the large, ornate gargoyles of pigs and humans high above in the tower.

This fine medieval marshland parish church with its impressive tower, can be found situated in the former market town of Burgh le Marsh.

A local custom here is that the church gates are closed and tied with twine whilst a couple are being married in the church and untied after the groom has lifted his bride over the gates; this symbolising the beginning of a happy life together.

Tealby is well known for its connection to Alfred Lord Tennyson and the Tennyson family.

St Helen’s sits proud in the centre of this modest Lincolnshire village but in the nearby hills and fields lies a wealth of history including bronze age barrows and Roman roads.

So small in fact it doesn’t appear on some of the larger scale maps, the brick church of St Peter sits peacefully on the hillside of this rural hamlet.

You will find St Mary's Claxby on a back lane with glorious views north across the Wolds towards Nettleton Top.

14th and 15th century church restored in the 1870s with a magnificent organ and Saxon cross.
