A grade II listed Victorian mission church built in 1846 with the vestry added in 1895, it was badly damaged by an earthquake in 2008 and story of the rebuild is told in photographs in the church.

From a distance the late medieval flint and flushwork tower is typical of East Anglian country churches, but the surprise on reaching the south side of churchyard is quite the most splendid Norman doorway.

Built between 1851 and 1853 at a time when the town was rapidly expanding and prosperous, the church is vast, with a magnificent tower with octagonal spire reaching to some 220 feet high, a landmark which can be seen for many miles around. 

A unique and magnificent Grade I listed building with a wonderful prayerful atmosphere, where visitors are welcome and worship takes place every day.

Hooton Pagnell was recorded in the Domesday Survey, although there is no mention of a church we know one existed as in 1089 Ralph Paganel granted the church to the Priory of Holy Trinity in York.

The first thing the visitor will notice about East Harling's church is the very distinctive pinnacled wooden and lead cased spirelet, or fleche, crowning the tower.

This pretty country village is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as ‘Brodesworde’.

A rather unassuming village church on the outside but containing a wealth of interest and heritage within its walls, but there also lies a hidden story of murder and intrigue.

St Laurence's church is a grade I listed church dating from the 11th century onwards with 1882 restorations by Bodley and Garner.

St Margaret's at Langton was much restored also in 1890 though a little medieval stonework remains in the north aisle, visible from outside if you cannot get in.

The port of Harwich is a must see destination for history lovers as it is the place where the Mayflower ship is believed to have been built and where its captain, Christopher Jones lived and was twice wed at St Nicholas church, which was rebuilt 1821.
