Our church is 800 years old and has some interesting woodwork which is 350 years old.

Built on land originally granted to Cistercian monks, the impressive church of granite and Portland stone was built to a design by Charles Hollis.

The original St Edmund’s church and school were built to serve the 1,000 or so Roman Catholics living on the Isle of Dogs in about 1870.

The church did have substantial Saxon elements until 1866 and some of the Saxon and later work can still be seen inside, it is the features inside which draw visitors to the church.

Its pre Norman tower alone would make this church special, but what makes it both unique and mysterious is its two storey sanctuary.

Mainly Norman, with traces of reused Roman brick, St Andrew's has a pretty clapboard bell turret and porch, and shares a churchyard with the later church of St Christopher.

The beautiful church of St Christopher's, built in 1320, is unique in Essex as it shares a churchyard with the older St Andrew's.

The oldest church in Guildford, built around 1040 using local chalk with a flint jacket.

An excellent example of good 1960s architecture with a large central octagonal sanctuary, a beautiful internal wooden roof and possibly the best views over the town.

St Luke’s now has a brand new home: a place of welcome, hospitality and hope for the people of the Isle of Dogs.

From the west and south, the combination of village green, cottages and church at Cavendish is perfect, and makes one of the loveliest and most famous English villages scenes.

Beautiful Grade I listed church circa 1125 with Norman features.
