Find a church

On entering the Cathedral all the awkwardness of the red brick exterior disappears and you find yourself in an inspiring church quite unlike any other you will have ever seen.

The church of St Mary in Abbeycwmhir was built in 1865 by Mary Beatrice Philips, sister of the squire.

The church was built in the Decorated style in1864/65, by WJ Hopkins.

Tucked in beside the great Cistercian abbey, with the grave of Wales’s greatest love poet.

This particularly fine church was built during the first half of the 14th century and there have been few alterations since then, it gives a very good impression of English gothic architecture just before the advent of The Black Death.
