The church that John Betjeman called, 'A baroque paradise at the heart of the Strand'.

Westminster Abbey presents a unique pageant of British history; the shrine of St Edward the Confessor, the tombs of kings and queens, and countless memorials to the famous and the great, it has been the setting for every Coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal occasions.

As nearby Westminster Abbey was a monastery church, local people needed a place to worship and so St Margaret's was founded in the 12th century.

The present St Mary’s was opened in 1895, but a medieval stone and tile in the porch are clues to the parish’s much longer story.

This is the 'Oranges and Lemons' church, rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren in 1682, burnt out during World War II and reconsecrated as the Central Church of the Royal Air Force in 1958 with antique and modern silver, RAF Books of Remembrance, Squadron Standards and Badges.

Part of the headquarters of the Mothers Union, this chapel is full of images and artwork celebrating women.

The treasures inside include two notable medieval monuments to past rectors, the most prominent is of William de Harrington, who died around 1350, dressed in cassock and hood with a skull cap, his feet are supported on a bracket decorated with a green man and his head on a pillow supported on two angels.

St Stephen's is a cruciform building, built in 1873, in the Early English style of architecture and has interesting internal architectural features and stained glass; a beautiful and peaceful place of worship within a small village community.

St James shows many details of its long history including the little south porch of wood and brick sheltering a Norman doorway and 13th century door.

The church building is just overs 50 years old.

Up to 1957 Wimbledon Congregational Church met in the hall known as the Memorial Hall which is now rented by Building Blocks Nursery.
