With a history dating back over a thousand years, one of the largest parish churches in the country and one of England's Greater Churches.

The chapel dates from 1724, together with a small hospital building, and the almshouses which form the three sided courtyard with St Bartholomew's chapel in the centre,

Christ Church is a 19th century building set above a road, in a peaceful rural location, built to replace the now ruined St John the Baptist church in the centre of the village.

St Andrew’s is special, it is the first church in Britain specifically designed to be shared by the Anglican and Roman Catholic communities.

Home to what many consider to be the finest Norman font in England, this impressive parish church is an excellent example of a medieval hall.

Designed by GF Bodley and dedicated in 1862, All Saints is of major importance as his first collaboration with William Morris.

The tower of St Laurence is one of the best of its kind in the country, and is remarkable both inside and out.

Grade II* listed church dating back to the 13th century with 17th century tower, Memorial Chapel and lovely stained glass windows and monuments.

The church is Grade II* listed.   The nave and chancel are 12th century, and the church was greatly extended in 1854.

Early Quaker meetings in Kendal held at private houses. In 1687 a Friend bought the plot and building on the present site. This wonderful Grade II* listed building has a fascinating story to tell and like many other Meeting Houses, it’s well worth a visit!

Cartmel has been described as the medieval jewel among churches, making a lasting impression on the visitor, overshadowing the village as it does and giving an idea of the way early priories must have dominated their surroundings.
