There is evidence that a church existed here in the 12th century, it was however greatly extended in 1915 hence it has two distinct side by side buildings.

Originally it is believed there were 63 medieval churches in the city. St George is one of the remaining 31 and has the distinction of not only being architecturally worth a visit but is one of eight in regular weekly use.

A church which the medieval nuns of the priory of St Mary shared with the townspeople.

Set amid cobbled streets and old cottages near the top of Elm Hill, this church dates from the 15th century but looks older than other Perpendicular examples in Norwich; perhaps partly because of its dumpy, pyramid topped tower.

St Mary's is a beautiful Grade I listed church and is one of only two medieval churches that remain in Southampton, and it was even mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.

This lovely grade II* listed building was built in 1875 by the architect John Coulson.

Hidden in the woods south of the village, St Mary's is a simple aisleless building with its tower, nave and chancel all severely restored by the Victorians.

Built in 1847 in the Gothic Revival style to a design by Hansom, this recently restored rural parish church is one of the oldest and most beautiful Catholic churches in south Wales.

The cruciform church is Grade I and backs onto Dinton Park.

St Mary's church is the oldest parish church in Stockport.

You can catch glimpses of Cwmyoy's 13th century church from the road as it winds up the Vale of Ewyas, and even from afar the leaning tower is very apparent.
