Find a church

A beautifully light open and simple Norman church recorded as being part of an endowment in 1090.

Designed by Edward Pugin, son of Augustus Pugin, and was completed in 1856: amongst its glories is the stained glass.

This church is on the edge of woodland off a lane on the eastern slopes of Long Mountain, looking across the Wales/England border to the Long Mynd, south of Shrewsbury.

Roger de Montgomery, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, owned most of Shropshire, and it was he who founded this Benedictine abbey in 1083, he is said to have been buried here when he died in 1094.

The Edwardian façade hides a much older building.
