A recorded parish since the Norman Conquest, it is likely a church has stood on this site in some for since the mission of St Augustine to the Anglo Saxons.

A beautiful and ancient church founded by St Beuno in the 7th century, after which a stone church was built in the 14th century, and extensive rebuilding was done in 1769.

Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin was engaged as architect and it was considered the most important Catholic Church in England when it was built from 1839, seating about 3,000 people. 

The church was first dedicated to St Faith in 1108-14 and although it appears to be largely early 19th century Gothic Revival it is largely of medieval origin with possibly even earlier fabric incorporated.

Winefride (Gwenfrewi) was the daughter of a local prince named Tewyth and his wife Gwenlo, her uncle was St Beuno.

This is the 'Oranges and Lemons' church, rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren in 1682, burnt out during World War II and reconsecrated as the Central Church of the Royal Air Force in 1958 with antique and modern silver, RAF Books of Remembrance, Squadron Standards and Badges.

The present building was consecrated in 1623 having been built to the designs of Inigo Jones.

The small church is an attractive building of 12th and 15th century work with alterations and additions occurring in the 13th and 14th centuries.

This is the chapel of one of the four Inns of Court. It is on the site of the chapel built in 1315, and rebuilt in the 1960s following destruction in the Second World War.
