For nearly 1,500 years Bangor Cathedral has been a 'house of God' a peaceful sanctuary where the long history of prayer and pilgrimage can still be felt.

Welcome to the parish church of Monks Risborough, the oldest recorded ecclesiastical parish in England.

The church holds the old standard and roll of honour of 101 Bomber Squadron based at RAF Ludford, the squadron that suffered the highest number of casualties of any squadron during WWII.

The highlight of a visit is to the Sanctuary to view the fine triptych reredos with covered cornice and panels of saints and inscriptions recording incumbents and donors.

The village comprises of little more than a row of houses and several farms, the church is on the north side of the road on an easterly slope running down to a small stream at the bottom of the hill, there are numerous footpaths in the area giving access to some good views of the Wolds.

St Andrew's is popular with walkers and others who, according to our visitors book, appreciate both its peaceful setting and the fact that it is always open during daylight hours.

The ancient cathedral is situated on top of Stow Hill overlooking the city of Newport having much architectural merit which provides a rewarding experience for visitors, as well as a quiet space for private reflection or prayer.

This Grade 1 church is noted for its late 13th century Decorated work, described by Betjeman as an architectural gem.
