St Mary’s is a beautiful church, in a beautiful setting and many people come from far and wide to enjoy the building, its history, and its sense of peace and tranquillity.

Remains from the church’s early life and history can be seen just inside the church, there are fragments from a Saxon cross, an ancient gravestone with scissor markings, as well as remains from a Norman arch and some ancient stained glass from the medieval church.

The church was founded in the 12th or 13th century.

The ancient church of St Tanwg is situated in the sand dunes at Llandanwg, it is reputed to have been founded in the 5th century by St Tanwg and is one of the oldest Christian foundations in Britain.

This Grade I Perpendicular church is also situated by the River Avon.

Described as the cathedral of south Bedfordshire, All Saints dates from 1277 and is probably the finest church in the county.

The translation of the place name Llanfairfechan is little church of St Mary.

The church is attached to the seat of the Dukes of Beaufort, Badminton House and was built in 1785 by Charles Evans, in the style of St Martin in the Fields in miniature.

An almost perfect specimen of village church architecture in its exterior, and in its interior possibly unsurpassed by anything of its kind in England (Illustrated London News, 1870).
