St Leonard's church has stood in the centre of the village for almost a thousand years.

The first church close to the river would have been on the strip of gravel which the present day church stands, there was no sea wall or river bank as we know it today.

The church is set back from the road amongst trees.

The chapel is above the old stables built at Raithby Hall in 1779 by the then owner Robert Carr Brackenbury, and is one of the oldest Methodist chapels still in use in the country.

Although it displays a variety of styles and periods, All Saints is primarily 15th century and built in the main from local greenstone.

The present building dates back to the 13th century, but there is reason to believe that a church existed before this date and certainly by 1190.

The simple preaching house style of All Saints has been modified over the years and in particular by the addition of the Gothic style chancel and high altar.

St George’s is a largely Norman, late 12th century church in the village of Woolhope, which lies in the Wye Valley area of outstanding natural beauty.

Its pre Norman tower alone would make this church special, but what makes it both unique and mysterious is its two storey sanctuary.
