St Edward the Confessor is a Grade II Listed church built in 1860-2 by John Dobson of Newcastle as the result of a generous benefactor.

Built between 1327 and 1377 during the reign of Edward III, the stone carvings high on the walls of the chancel commemorate this fact as Edward looks across from the south side at his wife, Queen Phillipa, on the north.

A beautiful serene example of an ancient church surviving in a modern age with something for everyone to enjoy and nice friendly staff who are more than happy to help.

There has been a settlement in Sutton Valence since at least Roman times, and a church is recorded in the Domesday Book.

This is one of the best Victorian churches in Wiltshire built by Pearson in 1866 to 68.

St Nicholas is beautiful in its simplicity, letting in plenty of natural light, with a clear window behind the altar which looks out on the surrounding farmland.
