It was designed by David Patterson and built in 1828 by the 7th Earl of Airlie on the site of an older church.

Its red sandstone exterior has been worked in Gothic Revival style, with castellations and finials. Although relatively compact the church can seat 300 people.

Inside there are various memorials to Cortcachy earls. The Burial Aisle of the Airlie family rests against the east gable.
