Camp Hill, Warwickshire
Camp Hill is a suburb and electoral ward in the northwest of Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, originally developed in the 1950s by the National Coal Board to accommodate miners relocating to the area's thriving coalfields.
The parish church was founded by curate Fr Dennis Sneath from the nearby Abbey Church, for the growing population. Construction began with a dual-purpose hall that opened on 8 May 1954. Services has been originally held in a builders' hut on site. The foundation stone for the church was laid on 27 August 1966, and the building, designed in a modern style to incorporate community facilities, was consecrated on 10 September 1967. Fr Dennis Sneath served his 61-year ministry at the church, from its foundation until 2013.
We now have a versatile and modernised church hall building in a prominent central location in the community, with plans for very significant growth through the major renovation project due to take place on our landmark 1960s church building adjacent. We offer an enthusiastic newly re-established church community; weekly Sunday services started in October 2024.
Amenities within half a mile include multiple convenience stores, small supermarkets, and the Camp Hill Education, Sports & Social (CHESS) Centre offering food bank support. The parish has one primary school, with others and secondary provision close by outside the parish. Whittleford Park, a reclaimed 43 hectare former industrial site, lies within the parish and offers woodland and walking paths.
