The medieval church at Llangynwyd had a rood screen with a carving of the Crucifixion which was so powerfully carved that it was believed to be capable of performing miracles.
The current chapel, from 1908, is by Sir William Beddoe Rees in the classical 'beaux arts' style.
It was built following the 1904 Welsh Revival, the largest Christian revival in Wales in the 20th century. The chapel is said to seat up to 1001 people. The facade has three bays, and a huge 80 pane window flanked by columns.
