Chapel of St Mary on the Bridge

It offered spiritual reassurance to travellers setting out into the wild lands beyond the bridge

After a long and varied career, including being used as a prison and a carpenter's workshop, it fell into ruins, and was eventually restored by the Haslam family in the early 20th century.

Work on embellishing the interior has carried on since, and today the chapel is a fully functioning place of worship.
