Inverness, Highland
Free North Church is not only the largest church in Inverness, with a seating capacity of 1400, but also the one with the tallest steeple at over 50 metres. The church is a significant and iconic part of the built heritage of the Highland Capital. It is the last heritage church building in the city centre still in use for its original ecclesiastical purpose. The attractive front elevation faces the River Ness and is the backdrop for many tourist photos.
It has the largest capacity of any building in Inverness and has a beautiful barrel ceiling. The interior is finished in the original terracotta colour and the extensive internal pine finish means that the building is good acoustically.
