The church is approached through the 18th century two storey lychgate building. The tower is a three stage tower of 15th century with an embattled parapet, pinnacles and diagonal buttressing. It is formed from ashlar granite. The south porch is embattled and is dated 15th century along with the south aisle. Both are formed from Granite Ashlar.

The windows are predominantly 15th century with a 13th century window north of the chancel and 14th century window to the chancel east end. The chancel is the oldest part of the church and dates back to the 13th century. The north wall is also from the 13th century indicating a southwards expansion of the church in the 15th century.

The church was restored 1867-9 by Edmond and JD Sedding. They worked on the nave and chancel roofs. Medieval wagon roofs still exist over the south aisle and north transept. The church is an extremely important building and a key focal point in the landscape. It was once one of four churches in the large mining parish and Wendron church played an important role for the local community. There are a number of historical links to the church and our aim is to use this project to develop a wider understanding of the history of the church and the links that have been established over the years. The lychgate is a unique building in its own right and quite unusual. It is listed Grade II* along with the wall to the southern boundary.
