St Mary the Virgin

This church was built by the villagers on land donated by villagers and the vicars were employed by the villagers until 1900 when it was transferred to the Diocese of Lichfield.

The church was rebuilt on the present site in 1672 and restored in 1875. It lies in the centre of the village in the beautiful Peak National Park within walking distance of Dovedale and Ilam.
