St John the Baptist church is a quiet place of calm in a bustling tourist location. The first Anglican church to be erected in Lynmouth was a wooden church known as 'The Ark'. The present, more substantial church dates form 1870. It has a nave, chancel, North porch and bell turret. A south aisle was added in 1920 and a vestry was built with funds from the US Air Force after the flood of 1952. The church contains a memorial to 27 people who lost their lives in the flood at Lynmouth.
