The church is situated on Potter Hill in the North Yorkshire market town of Pickering, just to the west of the town centre. It sits within a Conservation Area and nearby is the 1914 Memorial Hall and the local Roman Catholic Church.

The surrounding area is open and attractive with a steeply grassed bank directly opposite, which contains mature trees and in the spring is covered with daffodils. The nearby buildings are mainly domestic properties built in the local vernacular style.

The chapel boasts a large gallery, very unusual curved pews and a brass War Memorial from both wars.
