The annual conference of local Churches Trusts took place on 16 May 2011

The annual conference of local Churches Trusts took place on 16 May 2011 to share ideas and discuss issues affecting the Church sector. The meeting is organised by the Historic Churches Liaison Group, a small representative body of Trusts involved. This year’s conference headed to Wales, to the wonderfully atmospheric surroundings of Llandaff Cathedral, just outside Cardiff.

In discussion groups, conference attendees considered how the national network could be improved and strengthened, and a presentation from Nigel Robson of the Churches Trust for Cumbria outlined the important work being undertaken in that county. A presentation was provided by Alex Glanville, Head of Property Services for the Church in Wales which provided an update on plans for a possible Welsh Trust. As well as getting a chance to catch up with one another and participate in some lively discussions – the day concluded with a comprehensive and most interesting tour of the cathedral itself – led by the building’s archivist, John Bethell.
