Training and sharing knowledge about church buildings is a key part of what we do.
Working with leading experts, we offer training courses on a variety of subjects including advice on grant funding and completing our application forms and on how to tell the story of your church and promote it to visitors. Our courses are welcoming and currently delivered online in a friendly manner with plenty of opportunity for Q&As both during and afterwards in the chat sessions. Last year we delivered our training and workshops to hundreds of satisfied customers.
Details of some of our training courses can be found below and you can book a place on our Events page.
"I was impressed by the knowledge & positive attitude of the contributors and the amount of expertise & support available" All Saints, Newtown, Powys
Our courses are currently delivered on-line, via Zoom. Wherever you live in the UK, as long as you have internet access and a laptop, computer or phone you will be abe to take part. Once travel restrictions are lifted we will continue to offer online training as well as courses at venues across the UK.
Up to date
We regularly review and update our training courses to respond to church sector changes and market trends. We can also tailor courses to make them specific to your needs.
Church Tourism Training
Welcoming Visitors - An informative one hour introductory course discovering the many ways in which your place of worship can benefit from tourism from increasing visitors and raising funds to recruiting volunteers and staging events. What do you have to offer? How do you meet and greet visitors? What are the first impressions and what are the pitfalls?
Finding and sharing your stories - We believe every church has a story to tell. Delivered in two halves, this course first explores how to search out the story that makes your church unique - is it a person who lived locally, or the architecture or stained glass? Secondly, we look at how you become the storyteller, using both traditional and digital ways to share your story and entertain others.
Making publicity work for your church - If you do not promote yourself how will people know about you and be able to support you? We look at how attract visitors to your church and events. From creating simple flyers and posters to creating plans for large scale events and delivering successful PR campaigns. Exploration in how to manage your presence on-line and create a successful website is also addressed.
Creating & raising income from bookable experiences - Discover how to create unique bespoke days that will attract groups to your church. A chance to be part of the National Churches Trust's latest tourism initiative to encourage more people to visit churches.
Social media, making it work for your church - In this fast-paced everchanging world of digital communications we share our knowledge of how to get the most from social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Footfalls, exploring the effect of visitors - Exploring the good that visitors can bring to your church as well as addressing some of the issues that may arise.
