St Mary

St Mary's dates mostly from the 15th century and from the outside its two most striking features are the flint built tower and the beautiful south porch of stone and flint.

The stonework on the front of the porch is outstanding.

There is an Annunciation on either side of the doorway, rows of angels playing musical instruments, a row of stone shields above the doorway, and above that two delightful windows. This is all crowned by an intricate filigree parapet and pinnacles in the form of mythical beasts.

Inside there is much of interest, including the 15th century screen with its tracery and faded paintings of the Apostles. Of the same date are the simple benches.

A good deal of the glass is also of the 15th century.
